Hi I’m jack, Link to heading

A first year MSci computer science student at the University of Birmingham. I’m highly interested in the right to digital privacy and how this can be achieved via open source, data sovereign applications. This has further led to a hobby of self-hosting as many services as i can to be more digitally self-sufficient.

I’m experienced in the python (5 years), java (1 year) and c (2 years) languages as well as SQL (2 years). While my main interests are in the back-end I have also dabbled with UI development utilising Dart and Flutter. I have built a number of projects a few I have showcased here. A few of these have been a result of a-level or university projects but many are also personal.

I have also used Linux on the server (3 years), as well as daily driving it on my personal computers (5 years). Utilising Debian and Ubuntu on the server while preferring Fedora for personal devices.

Where to? Link to heading

The focus of my spare time is currently on Peridot, a private modern and optionally self-hostable menstrual cycle tracker to act as a practical alternative to intrusive main stream alternatives.

This year I’m focusing on expanding my experience by looking for internships as well as continuing with steady work on Peridot aiming to release a beta version by the end of the year.
